A Century of Caring in Detroit

Trinity Health began its enduring legacy in Detroit with a hospital established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1923.

In 2001, Trinity Health reaffirmed its dedication to the Detroit community by transforming the hospital into the Mercy Primary Care Center which was recently renamed Trinity Health Primary Care - Detroit. This primary care clinic serves nearly 10,000 patients a year with preventive and wellness care, management of chronic disease and connecting people to the services they need.

Today, Trinity Health Primary Care - Detroit is part of the Trinity Health Detroit Ministry, a consortium of clinics, partnerships and community programs bringing care to the Detroit community when and where it most needed. Broadening its scope and impact, the Detroit Ministry forged management partnerships in 2018 and 2019 with two distinguished, local clinics: St. Frances Cabrini Clinic and SAY Detroit Clinic. These collaborations have extended Trinity Health primary care services into the Southwest Detroit and Highland Park areas.

St. Frances Cabrini Clinic, under the auspices of Most Holy Trinity Church, holds the distinction of being the nation's longest-running medical facility dedicated to serving uninsured individuals. SAY Detroit Family Health Clinic, a branch of SAY Detroit Charities established in 2008, has a specific focus on providing health care to women and children.

The Detroit Ministry also provides health care within Cody High School with access to a Nurse Practitioner and Community Health Worker. Serving about 150 students annually, we look forward to permanent space in Cody High’s new building in 2026.

You can help make a real difference. Your support can help with supplies needed in our clinics or support of community programs.
